The MCC Matriculation Hr Sec School, Chennai recognizes the importance of a well-rounded education that extends beyond the classroom. Students at the School are therefore encouraged to pursue a wide range of intellectual, sporting and social activities. They participate in various inter-school activities such as elocution, debates, science exhibitions, creative writing and the arts. Students also participate in volleyball and boxing competitions.

The School Band

The School Band, with 25 students, plays at school functions, the annual Sports' Day and participates in various competitions. Students learn to play the drums, flute, bugle and percussion instruments.

Elocution Competitions

In order to develop their public speaking skills, students of all classes take part in annual elocution competitions conducted in English, Hindi and Marathi.

Visits and Excursions

Regular visits and field trips are arranged to places of educational interest in and around the city. These visits are related to classroom topics and help reinforce learning.


Scouting is part of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) beginning in Class 8 and continuing until Class 10. Each class goes camping and hiking at least once a year. Outdoor activities include cooking, camp craft and campfires.

Games and Sports

Various indoor games, including badminton, basketball, table-tennis, boxing, carrom, squash and chess as well as outdoor games like volleyball and cricket are organized by our physical educators. Students are encouraged to participate in these activities.


The School encourages students to sit for an Elementary and Intermediate Grade Drawing Examination, held every October. This is an effort to cultivate and develop the latent talents of our children.
